Plus Q&A sessions with the legendary Sir Tony Robinson on his time as Blackadder’s rogue with a cunning plan, Baldrick and stars of Red Dwarf Norman Lovett and Hattie Hayridge, Barry Cryer and Colin Sell’s ‘Strictly Come Joking’, a Saturday late show and competitions for Portsmouth’s Comedian and Young Comedian of the Year, this promises to be the comedy event of the year!

There is gentle ramp access into our main foyer for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. From the main foyer you can access the stalls, our café and lifts to all other floors. The steps inside the auditorium are quite shallow – our staff can advise on the best routes and access points at the time of booking or on your arrival.

We have a limited number of wheelchair spaces in our auditorium which are bookable by calling or emailing our Box Office, these can not be booked online.

Portsmouth Guildhall has accessible toilets on the Basement level which can be accessed by lifts on both sides of the main foyer areas.

Hearing and Guide dogs are welcome but please inform Box Office at the time of booking as there is limited space available.

Age Restrictions

The Big Mouth Comedy Festival will include material that is of an adult nature so is not recommended for under 16s. Please check the information regarding individual shows/artists as some shows may only be suitable for over 18s.

Challenge 25! We operate a Challenge 25 policy. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked to prove that you are aged 18 or over when buying alcohol.

Food & Drink

There will be a number of bars and catering outlets at The Big Mouth Comedy Festival and Guildhall Café will be serving a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Please note Food & Drinks brought externally will not be allowed on the premises and Guildhall Café will not be open to non-ticket holders on this day.

How to Get to Us

By Car

There is easy access into Portsmouth on the M275 from Junction 12 of the M27, with links to the M3 and A3 connecting the city with Southampton, Chichester, London and beyond.   

There is a Park & Ride service situated at a purpose built location on the M275 entrance to Portsmouth which operates until 8pm on Saturdays and 6.45pm on Sunday.


Isambard Brunel Multi Storey Car Park has 460 spaces and is 200m from Portsmouth Guildhall.

There are a very limited number of on street parking spaces outside the venue.

Blue Badge holders are exempt from pay and display charges in Portsmouth City Council owned car parks – just display your badge. This is not the case with NCP owned car parks or the Isambard Brunel Multi Storey car park.

By Train

Portsmouth Guildhall is just a couple of minutes walk from Portsmouth & Southsea Train Station with frequent services operating from London Waterloo, Southampton and Brighton.

By Bus/Coach

Local and regional bus services stop at Commercial Road City Centre which is a 5 minute walk from Portsmouth Guildhall.

National coach services will stop at The Hard Interchange, a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride away.
