Get set for a lip-smacking treat as The Big Mouth Comedy Festival returns with a fine 4 days of folly, frivolity and tomfoolery guaranteed!

Following 2018’s hugely successful inaugural event, Big Mouth is back and better than ever with more stars, more legends, more emerging talent, more variety, more dates and therefore even more laughs!

Absurdist genius; Milton Jones, one of the finest female comics at work; Jo Caulfield and Ivo Graham with his crafty, self-aware wit will open the Festival on Friday 1st March.

A host of stars from Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and more will take to the stage the following day, Saturday 2nd March  to present ‘Best of the Fringe’ sessions and Men Behaving Badly’s Neil Morrissey and John Thomson, star of Cold Feet will star in Q&A sessions hosted by Plusnet’s Craig Murray!

Further fun can be had with a comedy drama on 7th March and the best of the UK’s hottest new acts in a Festival finale on 8th March.

Access

We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience when visiting our Grade II listed venue. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information or to discuss your requirements on 023 9387 0200.

If you require assistance whilst in our building please ask a member of staff and we will help in any way we can.

There is gentle ramp access into our main foyer for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. From the main foyer you can access the stalls, our café and lifts to all other floors. The steps inside the auditorium are quite shallow – our staff can advise on the best routes and access points at the time of booking or on your arrival.

We have a limited number of wheelchair spaces in our auditorium which are bookable by calling or emailing our Box Office, these can not be booked online.

Portsmouth Guildhall has accessible toilets on the Basement level which can be accessed by lifts on both sides of the main foyer areas.

Hearing and Guide dogs are welcome but please inform Box Office at the time of booking as there is limited space available.

Please see the Access Guide for Isambard Brunel Multi Storey Car Park which is 200m from Portsmouth Guildhall.

There are a very limited number of on street parking spaces outside the venue.

Accommodation

Our recommended Hotel partner is IBIS, located a less than five minute walk from the venue.

Portsmouth is a great place to stay and make a weekend of it!

Home to the Historic Dockyard and its famous attractions; HMS Victory, Mary Rose Museum and HMS Warrior 1860, see the sites from 170m high at the top of the Spinnaker Tower, explore the city’s 2 miles of beach front and enjoy shopping and leisure at the waterside Gunwharf Quays.

Age Restrictions

The Big Mouth Comedy Festival will include material that is of an adult nature so is not recommended for under 16s. Please check the information regarding individual shows/artists as some shows may only be suitable for over 18s.

Challenge 25! We operate a Challenge 25 policy. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked to prove that you are aged 18 or over when buying alcohol.

Food & Drink

There will be a number of bars and catering outlets at The Big Mouth Comedy Festival and Guildhall Café will be serving a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Please note Food & Drinks brought externally will not be allowed on the premises and Guildhall Café will not be open to non-ticket holders on this day.

How to Get to Us

By Car

There is easy access into Portsmouth on the M275 from Junction 12 of the M27, with links to the M3 and A3 connecting the city with Southampton, Chichester, London and beyond.

Parking:

Isambard Brunel Multi Storey Car Park has 460 spaces and is 200m from Portsmouth Guildhall.

There are a very limited number of on street parking spaces outside the venue.

Blue Badge holders are exempt from pay and display charges in Portsmouth City Council owned car parks – just display your badge. This is not the case with NCP owned car parks or the Isambard Brunel Multi Storey car park.

By Train

Portsmouth Guildhall is just a couple of minutes walk from Portsmouth & Southsea Train Station with frequent services operating from London Waterloo, Southampton and Brighton.

By Bus/Coach

Local and regional bus services stop at Commercial Road City Centre which is a 5 minute walk from Portsmouth Guildhall.

National coach services will stop at The Hard Interchange, a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride away.
